The Absorption Theory and Applications of Molecular Sieves
Molecular Sieves are Aluminosilicate crystal artificially, which be synthetized by hydrothermal method, and are produced according to their silica alumina ratio into different types, such as Type A, Type X, Type Y etc., and molecular sieves of the same type can be further classified into different categories by exchanging different metallic cations. The hole size inside the crystal determines to absorb or reject different types of molecules, and also determines the absorption sequence according to molecular polarity or polarizability of different substances, which ultimately can achieve the effect of separation and therefore be called “Molecular Sieves”. The pore-size distribution of molecular sieves is very uniform, so molecular sieves have unique advantages compared with other types of adsorbent:
- Extremely high deep drying resolution;
- Efficiently avoid co-adsorption during separation process to improve production yield;
- Complete drying and purification within the same system at the same time;
- Possess certain amount of absorption capacity even under relatively high temperature;
- Require less investment on equipment and have low operating costs, compared with other drying and separating devices.
